Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, the Kaduna State Governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, is a grassroots politician and has been instrumental to the success and emergence of governors in Kaduna State since 1999.

Hunkuyi after his education at Kafanchan Teachers College and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and his success in the teaching profession, moved into politics and was first elected as Chairman, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In the buildup to the 1999 general election after the military government under Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami (rtd.) decided to handover to an elected president and fully return the country to democratic system of government, Senator Hunkuyi was among the politicians that formed and funded the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP particularly in Kaduna State.
