A data cube is a powerful analysis tool, which allows you to quickly and easily slice and dice data across multiple dimensions, in a single view. You can connect to a cube with a data analysis tool, such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. For more information on the cubes available for UW enterprise data, refer to Use Cubes.

UW-IT’s Reporting & Analytics team provides an Excel template for each data cube available, which allows you to connect to the cube immediately, without additional configuration.

However, these templates have limitations, and may not work for users from UW-Bothell or UW-Tacoma (users not on the UW-Seattle Campus domain). . 

If you are from UW-Bothell or UW-Tacoma and cannot connect to a cube template, there are two possible solutions:

1. Use the RunAs command. For instructions, refer to How do I connect to the EDW from a remote machine? 
2. Create your own template, as described in the procedure below.
